Find Out How to Get Energy-Saving Kitchen Appliances

DishwasherWhen buying appliances for your kitchen, have you ever thought of how you can also reduce the cost of using electricity for cooking, cleaning and even storing food? An energy efficient kitchen is everyone’s dream to achieve, but you don’t need to empty your wallet just to turn your kitchen into one.

You can greatly save energy in your kitchen through maintaining, checking or replacing your dishwasher and refrigerator. Nino’s Trading Company shares some handy tips below:

Dishwasher Tips
  • Scrape off the large food pieces and bones stuck on your plates. For burned or dried food particles, soaking or pre-washing is typically recommended.
  • Make sure that your dishwasher is not overloaded when you run it.
  • To save up to 3-7 gallons of hot water, avoid using the “rinse hold” option for just a few soiled dishes.
  • Air dry your dishes. If your dishwasher doesn’t have an automatic air-dry switch, turn off the control knob after the final rinse and prop the door open for the dishes to dry.
Refrigerator-Freezer Tips
  • Don’t let your refrigerator or freezer become too cold. The ideal temperature for a refrigerator ranges from 35°-38°F for food compartment and 0°F for separate freezers for long-term storage.
  • You can check the refrigerator temperature by placing an appliance thermometer in a glass of water in the center of the refrigerator. Read the result after 24 hours.
  • Checking the freezer temperature is pretty much the same as the procedure for the refrigerator temperature, but this time you must place a thermometer between the frozen packages. Be careful not to place it on the edge of the freezer’s door.
  • Save electricity bill inflation from partially open refrigerators by checking to see if your refrigerator door seals are airtight.

When shopping for a new dishwasher or a refrigerator that uses less water and energy, look for the ENERGY STAR label in these appliances. Look for good stores selling quality kitchen equipment.
