Secure and Stable Dentures

Dental Implant

Just like a decent government, we need our teeth to be secure and stable if they are going to do their job properly. If you need to replace all of your teeth and want a secure and stable solution that offers full functionality, you need to check out dental implants.

Many dentists now offer a way to have all your teeth replaced, with a procedure known as All-On-4. Moor Park Dental in London is a practice with a very good reputation that offers this as a solution to loss of all your teeth.

Dental implants using the All-On-4 technique require a minimum of invasive surgery to provide full arch rehabilitation (the dental way of saying, ‘a full set of teeth for both upper and lower jaws’). This technique gets great reviews from over 90% of patients who opt for it.

How does it work?

All-On-4 is a value-for-money, solution that provides you with same-day dental implants and does not require bone grafts. All-On-4 works by inserting between only 4 to 6 dental implants into the jaw. Two at the front hold the biting teeth in place. Two at the sides hold the chewing teeth in place. The dental implants on the sides are inserted at angles of up to 45° so that they can provide stability along the whole of the side of the jaw. The dental implants are tilted so that the protrusion from the implant is at the back of the jaw but the internal post and abutment screw tilt in towards the front of the jaw. Thus providing much greater stability for the chewing and grinding actions that full dentures must be able to cope with.

The reason dental implants have the edge over dentures in terms of functionality is that they replace the root of the missing teeth. The procedure during which they are inserted into the jaw is normally performed under local anaesthetic. This is considered adequate because there are far fewer nerve endings in the jawbone than in a tooth. Internal screws, called abutments, are inserted into the implants at a second appointment, and the dentist can then permanently attach full dentures, or a removable one if you wish to take it out to clean it.
